3/25/23
Congratulations to our 2023 girl's high school champions, Oakcrest 2 (team 5) team, who beat the runner-up Absegami (Team 1) team 2 - 1 in a tough, three set final. Thank you to the 70 girls who participated on our 7 teams this year and made for some fun Friday nights. I'd also like to thank our two referees, Ariana and Raniyah Torres, who did a great job of running the matches.
Winter 2023/2024 Girls HS League
The first night will be Friday, December 1st. The format will be league play in a tri-match format. There will be 8 total teams, and 6 will play each night, with 2 teams receiving a bye. That is how we can accommodate up to the 72 girls. We have done that for the last 5 seasons and it has worked out well. We spend the first two sessions making up the teams and giving each some practice time. After that, it's all scheduled league play until the last week when it's a tournament.
There is very little spectator room at GTMS, so parents are asked to drop their athlete off and come back to get them promptly at 9:15, it would be appreciated.
The Head Referee and supervisor for this age group is Ariana Torres, who is an Assistant Coach at Oakcrest HS and a player at ACCC. I will be there on most nights to pitch in and assist Ariana as necessary. This is her 3rd year of working with this age group, and it's our 25th year of doing PAL Volleyball.

The top 6 teams will take part in a single-elimination tournament on Friday, March 24th starting at 7:30 pm at GTMS. We are off for Winter Break and then for NJ Special Olympics event on Jan. 6th and will return on January 13th. At that time, we will begin league play. I will post rosters and schedules here and also email the parents sometime shortly after New Years.

Galloway PAL volleyball begins tomorrow, December 2nd at 7:30pm for our High School girls group. Please bring your athletes to Galloway Township Middle School (GTMS) a few minutes before 7:30pm, dressed and ready to begin training. The address for GTMS is 100 S. Reeds Road, Galloway, NJ and you pass two other schools before you get to GTMS at the very end of Reeds Road. The gym entrance is on the left side of the building as you are driving in.
Tee shirts, sweats or volleyball spandex (girls) and gym shoes are required. Knee pads are recommended; an example of the type of kneepad used for volleyball is below:
Jewelry is not allowed for safety reasons so have your kids leave their earrings, necklaces, watches, wrist bands, etc. at home. Also, have them bring a water bottle, there is a filling station outside the gym in the hallway. Other than water, no food or drink is allowed in the gym.
Drop your athlete off in the GTMS gym a few minutes before 7:30pm and you can return to pick them up promptly at 9:15. They will play on Fridays when the school is open until mid- March. We are off for Winter Break, MLK and Presidents Day and a schedule will be posted on the

Congratulations to Hitting Hedgehogs, who took first place in our championship tournament last Friday. We have organized our girls into an 8 team league with play starting on Friday, December 17th. Each week, 6 of the 8 teams will play, and 2 teams will have a bye (off-week). The scheduled teams will play in a 2-set tri-match format each week. The team that is off in each of the 3 matches will be expected to assist the referees by being line judges and score keepers. At the end of the season, the top 6 teams will make the playoffs with the winner getting trophies or medals (TBD). The teams are listed below and the team numbers is used in the schedules.

Attendance and Forfeit Rules
Each week that you are scheduled to play, your team is expected to be there. The minimum number of girls that must be present, is 4, any less than that will be considered a forfeit. If a team forfeits twice, they will be removed from the league and no longer allowed to play. The only exception to this rule is based on Covid protocols, where the girls have been forced to quarantine, and there aren't enough to make a team of 4.
